Summer baking by the lake
There's nothing like fresh bread!
Sparrow’s is a seasonal bakery (May to October), at The Trading Post which faces Clear Lake’s beach in the resort town of Wasagaming. The bakery is located on the southern edge of Riding Mountain National Park of Canada, off Highway #10. Drive approximately 100 km (60 miles) north from Brandon, or 265 km (165 miles) from Winnipeg, the capital of the province of Manitoba.
The roads to Riding Mountain National Park cover flat far-as-the-eye-can-see prairie farm land, and the rolling hills of the Manitoba Escarpment. Leaving Winnipeg, you pass through bigger towns such as Portage la Prairie, Neepawa and Minnedosa. See farmers working their fields, check out historic sites or peek into some shops along the way.
You’ll want a bite to eat when you get to town and Sparrow’s Bakery will fill the bill. Sandwich in hand, start your exploration of Riding Mountain Park.
